Toni Morrison : Beloved (a critical study)

Novel Laureate Toni Morrison's work centres on the plight of black slaves in America. Based on actual incident, her fifth novel Beloved has an ex-slave woman Seethe as its protagonist, who-before the book even begins kills her baby girl in order to keep her away from slavecatchers. The baby girl, Beloved, ends up haunting the house in which Sethe and her youngest child Denver live. But Beloved isn't really a horror story. It is a searing saga of American's relationship with slavery.
