Details: "Indian poet and political activist Sarojini Naidu, also known as Bharatiya Kokila (The Nightingale of India), was a prolific poet, whose work drew wide acclaim, and influenced generations of writers. Many of Sarojini Naidu's poems are infused with political and social commentary; but quite a few are simply musings on life; meditative and halcyonic. Though she has written poems on religion, country, women's freedom, etc., and her poems on nature occupy the first place in her poetry. Even in sorrow, her nature poems glow with a touch of her suffering. Sarojini Naidu's poetry is intensely Indian. The four volumes, The Golden Threshold (1905), The Bird of Time (1912), The Broken Wing (1917) and The Feather of Dawn (1961) of her poems present a clear picture of Indian scenes, sights and experiences transmuted into a fantastic vision of colour, sound and rhythm."
