Details: Product Description
Frankenstein (NCE) (Norton Critical Editions) is one of the first novels in the sci-fi genre. It is about a scientist called Victor Frankenstein who creates a monstrous figure through his scientific experiments.
Victor Frankenstein is an ambitious and exceptionally intelligent child right from his childhood. He is born with a silver spoon and in his growing years becomes greatly fascinated by the world of science. He eventually takes admission in the University of Ingolstadt, where he continues with his various experiments, one of which leads to the creation of a monster.
As he progresses with his experiment, he realises that the creature looks extremely hideous and repelling to the eyes. Saddened by his own ugly creation, Victor abandons it. However, Victor’s ignorance leads his creation to feel isolated and neglected to the core. As a result, it indulges itself in various inhuman and criminal activities to seek vengeance on its creator.
Frankenstein is a novel that has been read, appreciated and critiqued across the world. It questions various core issues such as the war between science and nature and the obsession of humans with outer beauty. Frankenstein (NCE) (Norton Critical Editions) contains the earliest copy of the book with the errors being corrected. It was published by W W Norton & Co. in 1996 and is available in paperback.
