With the expansion of public administration as a discipline in India, the need for literature on administrative theory is being increasingly felt. This book fills the gap, in part. It provides an account of the ideas and contributions of twenty two thinkers to the discipline. Each chapter covers an outline of the thinker's life, writings, principal contribution to the theory and a critical evaluation. This volume is weaved together with the contributions of twenty one teachers with vast experience in the study, teaching and research in public administration, political science, sociology and management. It offers a single source of reference on public administration theory, particularly contributions of select thinkers. In this third and revised edition two thinkers have been added apart from revision of the chapters. Over years the book gained recognition and became a compulsory reading to the students, scholars and teachers of public administration. It is also an important source book for those appearing for competitive civil service and other examinations at national and state levels in public administration and management.

About the Editors

D. Ravindra Prasad, Ph.D was professor of Public Administration, Osmania University. He was recipient of Fulbright and Human Sciences Research Council, South Africa Fellowships. He was member of ICSSR and UGC Panel on Political Science and Chair, Sub-Panel on Public Administration. He authored/edited several books including Research Methods in Social Sciences and Public Administration and published papers in peer reviewed journals.

V.S. Prasad, Ph.D, was Professor of Public Administration, Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad. He worked as Director, National Assessment and Accreditation Council; Vice-chancellor, Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad and Pro-Vice Chancellor and Acting Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU, New Delhi. He taught at Osminia and Kakatiya Universities and was associated with the establishment of National Open University, Mauritius.

P. Satyanarayana, Ph.D was Director, Regional Centre, Indira Gandhi National Open University and worked as Deputy Director, Southern Regional Centre of Indian Council of Social Science Research, Hyderabad. Earlier he taught public administration at AV College.

Y. Pardhasaradhi, Ph.D is Professor of Public Administration and Director, Regiمعلمو Urban and Environmental Studies, Osmania University. He was the founder Hea of Public Administration, University of Asmara, Eritrea, Africa and Department and Public Administration, Central University, Jammu. He is Adjunct Professo Electronics Science and Technology, China.
